چکیده

Recent experimental developments in material sciences have generated hope that it will be possible to devise optical media where the difference in group velocity between the fundamental and third harmonic may be strongly suppressed. Under these circumstances both pulses would travel together over a long distance. This would lead to an enhancement of the generation process, and hence strong focusing and/or using ultra-short pulses might not be crucial. If the perfect phase matching condition is assumed, the only remaining mechanisms to decrease efficiency are self and cross phase modulation. Here we suggest that, instead of exactly matching wave vectors, we admit a small mismatch and show how it can be tailored to compensate for the cross phase modulation of the third harmonic by the fundamental during the generation process. This is very beneficial for the efficiency of third harmonic generation, even increasing it by a factor of two or more. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. PACS: 42.65.Ky; 42.65.Sf

Analysis of Vector Estimating Modulation Method to Eliminate Common Mode Voltage

Abstract The problem of common mode voltage in inverters can be considered as a major issue which leads to motor bearing failures. To eliminate these voltages, proposing some methods seems to be necessary. This paper has a comparative study on estimating modulation methods of eliminating common mode voltage. The main idea of these methods is based on generation of reference vector with nearest ...

Design and Performance Analysis of 7-Level Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverter Using Modified Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation Techniques

In this paper, a 7-level Diode Clamped Multilevel Inverter (DCMLI) is simulated with three different carrier PWM techniques. Here, Carrier based Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM), Third Harmonic Injected Pulse Width Modulation (THIPWM) and Modified Carrier-Based Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) are used as modulation strategies. These modulation strategies include Phase Dispos...

Green’s function formulation for third-harmonic generation microscopy

We report a theoretical study of third-harmonic generation (THG) microscopy by use of a Green’s function formulation. The third-harmonic signal under a tight-focusing condition is calculated for samples with various shapes and sizes. Our results show that THG signals can be efficiently generated at a sizable interface perpendicular or parallel to the optical axis or from a small object with a s...
